SAISD Employee Wins TEPSA Region 15 Assistant Principal of the Year

San Angelo ISD is proud to announce Michele Beers, Assistant Principal of Bradford Elementary, has been named Region Assistant Principal of the Year for Region 15. The award is given by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) and recognizes principals for their commitment to student learning as evidenced by exceptional school leadership.

“I am honored to be named as the Regional Assistant Principal of the Year,” Mrs. Beers said. “This achievement would not have been possible without the role models I have had in my career, the continued support of my husband and family, and my amazing administration team and teachers at Bradford Elementary. I am thankful to all who have supported me along the way.”

TEPSA selects one assistant principal from each of the 20 regions of the Texas Education Agency for the annual award. Of these 20 administrators, one will be selected as the 2023 National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas. The national award, supported by Horace Mann, recognizes leaders who:

  • are committed to excellence through programs designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students

  • have firmly establish community ties with parents and local business organizations

  • show strong expectations for school staff and students

  • exhibit exceptional leadership in a particular school program

“Mrs. Beers is deserving of this recognition,” said Bertha Carrasco, principal of Bradford Elementary. “She is dedicated to our students, compassionate, and action oriented. We are excited to celebrate her.”

Honorees will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Celebration Wednesday, June 7, at the Kahalari Resort in Round Rock, Texas.

“These assistant principals play a critical role in ensuring student success,” said TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart. “We’re proud of their leadership and commitment to Texas students and teachers.”
