Welcome to the 2007 - 2008 Central Bobcat's and Lady Cats' Cross Country

Area Meet Results

SA Times - With gray skies hovering over Mae Simmons Park on Saturday morning, the Class 5A girls kicked off the Region I cross country meet at precisely 9 a.m.

Central High School had only one runner - Alyssa Priest - in the girls race, but District 3-5A was well represented.

Odessa advanced to the state meet after taking third behind Keller and Southlake Carroll, and Abilene finished fourth overall, six points behind the Lady Bronchos. Odessa Permian finished in seventh place.

Priest was 37th individually, running the two-mile course in 12:18.64. The best Central boys finisher - Ethan Flores - finished in a similar position, taking 32nd overall in 16:16.74 on a three-mile couse. The Bobcats finished 18th as a team.

"We had a few people that ran the best races of their careers," Central coach Keith Meek said, "and then we had some that didn't. That's just how it goes sometimes. It was definitely a tough year (to race)."
