Lady Cats win consolation championship

The Central High School girls basketball team bounced back from a loss Thursday with two victories Friday at the Hays Tournament in Buda.

The Lady Cats (10 -3) played Lubbock Cooper in the consolation championship, defeating them in double OT 43 - 40. Cooper was rated 6th in Class 3A.

"The girls really played well today and bounced back from things not going their way (Thursday),'' Central coach Jan Wakefield said. "Jasmine Martinez was huge in both games today. In a tournament of this caliber, we're real proud to be in the consolation championship.'
