Copperas Cover Tournament

The Central High School girls basketball team was battered by Copperas Cove 69-36 Monday night in the opening round of the Bush's Chicken Holiday Classic, but rebounded to down Gatesville 61-59 Tuesday in the second round.

The Lady Cats (10-10) face Victoria Memorial in the consolation title game today at noon.

Central looses to Victoria Memorial in Consolation

The Central girls basketball team lost in the consolation final of the Bush's Chicken Holiday Classic in Copperas Cove on Wednesday, 60-49 to Victoria Memorial.

The Lady Cats were led by Mercedes Lopez, who scored 21 points and was named to the all-tournament team.

"We battled. I think we were down nine or 10 two times in the fourth quarter and got within four and couldn't get over that last hump," Central coach Jan Wakefield said.
