Central Lady Cats vs. Amarillo Tascosa Rebels

The Central High School girls basketball team got off to a slow start en route to a 66-29 District 2-5A loss on the road against Amarillo Tascosa on Saturday.

Lady Cats starter Shay Warren didn't play in the game because of an injury that's expected to keep her sidelined for about 10 more days.

"I think that really hurt our chemistry and scoring," Central coach Jan Wakefield said. "We've got some young girls filling that position right now. We turned the ball over too much and gave them too many opportunities. We just didn't play well, bottom line. They got after us."

Central (10-11 overall and 3-4 in district) travels to league-leading Midland High on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game against the Lady Bulldogs.
