Course Description:
Web Design and Telecommunications is a Career and Technology course. It is a creative, challenging, comprehensive, skill-exploratory, and learner - centered course, emphasizing a real-world, business work-skills environment. Digital Design is a year-long curriculum guide that develops ICT skills in web design and production using Adobe web tools. Digital Design is used in career and technical education courses as well as general web design classes.
Digital Design develops key digital-communication skills: design, communication, project management, and web technology. These skills are developed in a spiral as each project adds more challenging skills to foundation proficiencies. Digital Design aligns to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Students as well as the new Adobe Certified Associate Web Communication and Rich Media Communication objectives to prepare students for certification.
Adobe Design Certifications available through taking the Web Design Course.
Class Environment:
The course will simulate a corporate / real-world training environment of accountability. In such an environment, personal and group accountability to the timelines of completed work are essential for a company’s product success. Exercise completion and assessments will as closely as possible emulate a real-world structure.
Grading Policy Description:
The weighted average of grades is as follows: Organizational Effectiveness 10%, Exercises 20%, Projects 30%, and Academic Assessments 20%.
For exercises (10%) a grade of 100 will be given if the student completes the objective in the given time frame, and a grade of 0 if the student does not. Most of the objectives are computer-based tutorial training exercises or project. (This method of assessment gives the student personal accountability and favors success rather than failure). For projects (30%) rubrics both subjective and objective grade are used and will account for a grade between 0 and 100. Academic assessments (20%) and grades will be given on software operations, web design strategies, and terminologies. Organizational Effectiveness (10%) is based on business expectations. As such a grade of 100 will be given to each student at the beginning of each grading period. In order to hold that 100 the student cannot be tardy to class. If he / she are tardy, they will lose 5 points off the grade each time they are tardy to class. They will sign the tardy book to document their points.
