UIL Results

The Central Choir Department returned with another outstanding showing at the UIL Choral Concert and Sight-reading Contest held yesterday in Andrews.  The Ladies’ A Cappella, the Varsity Women and the Varsity Mixed Choir each received the sweepstakes award, which included superior ratings in both concert and sight-reading competition.  This continues a winning tradition in the Central High School Choir Department that includes over forty-six sweepstakes awards plus eleven superiors in either concert or sight-reading competition by various Central Choirs over the past nineteen years.  Congratulations, choirs!

Out of 38 soloists who performed, 6 received excellent ratings, while 32 students received superior ratings. Four small ensembles also received superior ratings and qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

In piano solo competition, Sheena Gibbons from the CFC received a superior rating on a class I solo.

The Ladies A Cappella Medium Ensemble also received a superior rating in the open classification category.
