Tech Prep
This
course offers the student the opportunity to explore a variety
of occupations in the health care field, to identify and
develope individual interests and abilities, and to provide
a basis for making an informed choice concerning employment
and training in the health care field. Academic studies
include history of the health care field, effective communication,
personal qualities, legal responsibilities, infection control,
and body mechanics to prevent accidents and injuries, fire
safety, first aid, adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation,
medical terminology and body systems. During the second
semester, the students observe and practice skills in which
they have demonstrated proficiency in local health care
facilities.

Tech Prep
This
course is designed to provide opportunities for the student
to explore a specific health care occupation in depth and
further the student’s understanding of human well-being.
Academic areas of study include nutrition and medical math.
The nurse aide certification course is included with an
opportunity for certification. Articulation to Howard College
is offered upon successful completion of Health Science
Technology Education I & II competencies in the areas of
Licensed Vocational Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Health
Information Technology. The Student must meet the entry
requirements of Howard College to receive credits. This
dass is located at the West Texas Training Center campus
in San Angelo. Transportation will be provided from both
high schools.
